Globe Ensemble Berlin: As You Like It By William Shakespeare

Several worlds collide in this light-footed and multi-layered comedy: the court with its power struggles and intrigues and the free, communal life in and with nature. In a highly amusing way, Shakespeare plunges his courtly characters into ever new adventures with the so-called common people who live with and from nature. And love, of course, does not care about such differences, but challenges a new, more boundless way of thinking. Thus, all participants are exposed to the most diverse tests and especially the long-established role models are shaken. With rousing musicality and poetry, the production creates a colorful, deliciously biting panopticon of social self-discovery that also strives for utopia and soulfulness.

Under the motto ABSCHIED & AUFBRUCH (Farewell & Departure), the Charlottenburg Globe Berlin is once again the setting for numerous events in a unique ambience from June to September. The program includes plays by Shakespeare (As You Like It, The Tempest, Comedy of Errors, Romeo & Juliet) and Schiller (Mary Stuart), a family play by Tankred Dorst, as well as word art evenings dedicated to the spoken word in a small format, e.g. with Plato's Phaidon or to works by Heine and Dostoyevsky. The concert series features, among others, the lautten compagney BERLIN, Klezmer Chidesch, songwriters Max Prosa and Lennart Schilgen, and weekly The Swingin' Hermlins. With "Romeo & Juliet" and "As you like it," the Globe Berlin now has two Shakespeare works on offer in the original language. Until the reconstruction of the former Schwäbisch Hall round theater building on Sömmeringstrasse is possible, a ring-shaped catwalk made of stacked wooden components from the Haller Globe will serve as an "open-o stage."
