"Corpus Lux" is a curated exhibition arranged by Galleri Grundstof, Aarhus, Denmark in cooperation with Carsten Rabe, Hamburg.

With different thematic approaches, the artists focus is on the beauty of the human body: from the body as a shell, form or sculptural presence with differences, decay and illness, to the tribute of human body and to pointing out that ideals and beauty is a social decission.

Breaking point: The exhibition is inspired by the growing showdown with the body as a unique sex object and the prevailing compliant beauty ideal.

How do we understand this body that we inhabit, that protects us, holds us captive, that feels, suffers and enjoys, that defines us, lets us act, that is constantly changing, and where we allow its perception to be formulated through aestheticization ? We live in a society of normalized overesthetization that tries to hide everything ugly and shapeless in favor of a dictated ideal of beauty: in this context, the exhibition raises questions about the ambivalence of our physical condition and their perception.

Thus, the photographic and video works of the six artists defy the widespread sexualization of the human body, explore forms of the sculptural power and beauty of the human body handed down from the Antiq and the Renaissance, or testify to the charming yet dignified portrayal of bodily imperfection and disease characterized "deformation".

The seven exhibited artist are Mayumi Hosokura (JP), AdeY (UK), Karen Paulina Biswell (CO), Anne Marie Pedersen (DK), Mia Mai Dengsø Graabæk (DK), Simon Riemer (D) and Linda Hansen (DK)

Galleri Grundstofs udstilling i Westwerk, Hamburg fokuserer på det skulpturelle udtryk i menneskekroppen.
I udstillingen viser vi skønheden i den menneskelige krop, på samme måde, som man dyrkede kroppen i klassisk kunst. Men samtidig ønsker vi også at vise skønheden dér, hvor kroppen ikke overholder gængse idealer, og der, hvor kroppen er mærket af aldring og sygdomme.
Vi er kommet til det punkt, hvor det er relevant at insistere på at vise, se på og beundre kroppen uden at den nøgne krop nødvendigvis er forbundet med seksualisering eller seksuelle fantasier.
Udstillingen består af værker af syv foto- og video kunstnere med meget forskellige udtryk og viser i enhver henseende respekt og entusiasme for menneskekroppen.
De syv kunstnere er Mayumi Hosokura (JP), AdeY (UK), Karen Paulina Biswell (CO), Anne Marie Pedersen (DK), Mia Mai Dengsø Graabæk (DK), Simon Riemer (D) og Linda Hansen (DK)
De har alle et omfattende internationalt CV.
Galleri Grundstof - Contemporary Photography (http://www.gallerigrundstof.com) er et galleri med fokus på den nye danske og internationale video- og fotografikunst. Galleriet fokuserer på værker og serier med eksistentiel fokusering, konceptuel fotografering og fotografering i eksperimentelle former. Galleriet er tre år og har hovedsagelig kunder fra Danmark, USA og Nordeuropa.
