This trio unites two musicians from the new generation of improvisers with one of the most relentless figures on the Danish improv scene, bassist Peter Friis Nielsen (b. 1948). The Scandinavian/Baltic trio improvise their way through musical landscapes, both resembling and renewing the European freejazz tradition with a hard-hitting statement blending spectral noise and extreme dynamics. Peter Friis Nielsen has been a common thread in Danish avant-garde music since the late 60s, and has appeared on countless recordings and tours with musicians like John Tchicai, Marilyn Mazur, Peter Brötzmann, Don Cherry, Alan Silva and Evan Parker. His expressive and "unrestrained avantgardistic” bassplaying (Gaffa, 2003) has made him one of the most unique and respected bassists in European improvised music. The Lithuanian saxophonist Liude Mockunas (b. 1983) and the Norwegian drummer Håkon Berre (b. 1980), are both established names on the European jazz and freeimprov-scene and working on the continuation of the European tradition of improvisation with numerous bands and musicians. Along with Peter Friis Nielsen, they provide a clear example of the fertility situated in a generation meeting like this, based on common aesthetics and mutual respect for each other and the music.

Liudas Mock??nas (LIT) is a multi-reeds player and composer, whose name stands for masterly performance and intriguing compositions. His ‚natural’ idiom is an explosive mixture of free jazz, lyricism and expressionism combined with highly unconventional performance techniques. His in-depth exploration of the properties of sound lead to an innovative and personal approach to wind playing techniques. This allowed him to escape from stylistic conventions and form an entirely original style, distinguished for multiphonics, expressive discharges of sound, overbends and unusual sound effects. Mockunas has been touring with musicians such as with Piere Dørge, Andrew Hill, Mikko Innanen, Mats Gustafsson, Burry Guy, Raymond Strid, Frank Gratkowski, Vladimir Chekasin and Jaak Sooaar.

Peter Friis Nielsen (DK) has been a key figure in the Danish avant-garde music since the late ’60s and has appeared on countless recordings with musicians such as John Tchicai, Marilyn Mazur, Peter Brötzmann, Evan Parker, Lotte Anker, P.O. Jørgens, Hasse Poulsen, Jesper Zeuthen and Claus Bøje. His expressive and "unbridled avant-gardistic” bass playing has made him one of the most interesting bass players coming out of the Copenhagen music scene.

Håkon Berre (NO) has established himself as one of the most interesting young drummers on the Danish scene for improvised music. Having expanded the drumset with a diversity of trash ranging from ringing bells, tin plates and chains, to pot lids, tea towels, forks and chopsticks, Håkon has made collaborations with artists such as Peter Brötzmann, Phil Minton, Axel Dörner, Kasper Tranberg, John Tchicai, Mikko Innanen, Tobias Delius, Hilmar Jensson and Fred Lonberg-Holm. His inventive and energetic drumming has brought him to numerous clubs and festivals all around the world, and can be heard on a discography spanning 28 CD’s, many of them released on Barefoot Records, where Håkon is one of the co-founders.
