Cambridge English examinations are taken by over 5 million people each year and are recognised by 20.000 universities, employers and goverments globally. The examinations test your spoken and written English, your understanding of authentic reading and listening texts and your knowledge of vocabulary and grammatical usage. Our preparatory courses run from September to June or from February to June (Fast Track) and participants can take the examinations in Nürnberg in June. There is no obligation to take the exam and the courses are also suitable for those who simply wish to improve their English at an appropriate level. The courses will help you to expand your vocabulary, be more confident about English grammar, and develop your skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing.

Cambridge English: First is widely recognised in higher education, business and commerce; see www.cambridgeenglish.orgwhy-cambridge-englishglobal-recognition. The general level of the exam is close to Abitur although different tasks are involved. There are tests of reading comprehension, vocabulary and structure, writing (email or letter plus either report, review or essay), listening, speaking (pair interview). To join these courses you should have 7 or more years of English or equivalent knowledge. Nürnberg Open Centre pass rate 2014: 58 (BZ candidates: 80).

Cambridge English First Certificate Fast Track Course:
This course will prepare you in one semester for the FCE examination in June 2016. To join the course your English should be very close to the level required in the exam, ie between mittlerer Schulabschluss and Abitur. You should also be prepared to spend time outside the classroom on reading and written work.
